Dear Blog,

I haven't been posting for a while, for two reasons. First, the Holidays got me out of my rhythym of posting every night. If I keep remembering to post then eventually it will become automatic again, but until then it's something I have to force myself to do, which is difficult. Second, I have been battling insomnia ever since Christmas, and although I think I've got a handle on it now, I'm still not sleeping as much as I want to be. In the novel and movie Fight Club, the narrator tells us that when you have insomnia, "you're never really asleep, and you're never really awake." Not the ideal state for journal writing.

But anyway, I'm posting today. Since it's been so long it's way too much to fill in on everything that's been going on since before the New Year, so I'll recap the highlights:

- Had a decent New Year's with the folks and a friend of the family that included a lobster dinner.
- Booked flight reservations to and from Baltimore for Super Bowl weekend, so it'll be good to see everybody, again.
- It's been ludicrously cold the last few nights, with temperatures ranging from 7-15 degrees.

When it gets that cold, it actually hurts to breathe. And not nearly enough snow has come with it - I've only seen two legitimate snowfalls this winter. If it's going to be this cold, it should at least be pretty. Oh, well.

I'm going to post in the other two blogs right now. And I'll do my best to remember to post tomorrow.
